Lessons & Blessings

We learn much through the trials that we experience. For most people, you only need to make the mistake once to learn that lesson. Like touching a hot pan. Often, over the years, myself or another member in my family have been burned CWD (cooking while distracted). We’d go to grab that pot or pan and momentarily forget that we aren’t made of ice. Oven mitts and panholders were invented for a reason!
Regardless of what lesson it is we face, the harder it is, the more we have a tendency to despise it. Afterall, who wants to go though hard things? Even going through grade school, I’m sure most people wanted the easier path. I know I sure did. Yet, it wasn’t until I became and adult that I began to realize that I learned so much more when the task was more challenging.
This makes me reflect on my comfort zone. When something is comfortable, I’m not troubled by the highs or the lows because it’s familiar. It’s the uncharted waters that become the issue for us. Unpredictability is fear inducing. In many instances, it doesn’t even matter if you know someone else that lived through the experience. It’s new to you! As believers, these moments of unpredictability are what can be very trying to our faith. Yet, if it’s not tested, we don’t truly know just how much of it we have.
That’s because, even in our spiritual lives, comfort is our top choice. No one wants to do the things that are uncomfortable. Yet, when God grants us these opportunities, it’s by going through that we receive the blessing he has waiting. A blessing we would not have gained access to if we allowed fear to make us turn back. Don’t despise the hardships. Instead, recognize the growth opportunity for your faith and draw closer to God. It’s an opportunity to learn what his desire is for you and an a growth opportunity for your faith. Afterall, we shouldn’t rely on our faith being in its infancy (a mustard seed) for our entire lives. Growth is what we should seek. So let your faith flourish, even in the middle of the hard trials.
Stay Sunny!
