Our impatience can get the better of us at times and we have a tendency to jump the gun or try to think of a plan B, C, and D...

Instead, as we grow wiser, we begin to experience an increasing number of obstacles. This often takes my mind back to school days. When I was younger, I enjoyed learning, primarily because I picked up the lessons quickly and got to spend my days socializing with school friends. As I grew up, that perspective began to shift because more was expected of me.

Some of this joy is a result of having a cup that is not just full to the brim, but overflowing. If my cup is overflowing, then I don’t just have what I need. I have excess. Overflow. But sometimes, we don’t always acknowledge it the way we should.

Many of us today are in the midst of a “Red Sea Experience”. The road ahead of us looks impossible. The one behind us is just as frightening. Our faith has no other alternative but to become all or nothing. Wavering can no longer be an option.

“Open During Construction” When I saw it, I was struck by how much the sign seemed to resonate with my life. That business looked like utter chaos and yet, changes for the better were happening. It was still open for business.

If you’ve ever cruised along on a major highway, then you are some measure of acquainted with traffic. Rush hour or otherwise. It can be frustrating for some who travel the road with a timeframe. I’ve experienced the unpredictability of those jams, as well. You can have smooth sailing one day and the next could be gridlocked.

We can easily anticipate potential variables of something going wrong because that’s what we tend to hold on to. This is also why we don’t require much time to come up with a whole list of reasons why that should prevent us from even trying! This is something that’s come to be referred to as Analysis Paralysis. A state of overthinking to the point that you can’t make a decision.

She happened to be focused on me that day and when she heard the familiar sounds, she swiftly set in motion to run toward her bowl. Our spiritual self needs sustenance as well. If I truly want a cup that is not only full of what God supplies, but is overflowing, then I need to trust him to purge me of the things that don’t belong. There needs to be room to receive a full cup in order to experience the overflow that I don’t have room to receive.

The more “encounters” we have that challenge our faith, the more confident we become each time we overcome.

I’ve never been a fan of change for the sake of change. But what if that’s not it?
