Tis' The Season

I was thinking recently about when parents learn they are expecting a child. They’ve not yet held this baby in their arms, don’t know what they look like, what type of personality they have, or who they will become. Yet, they love them anyway. That type of love, as great as it may be, pales in comparison to the love that God has for us.

Imagine knowing everything there is to know about someone before they exist. That’s who God is for us. If we consider his omniscience, then we have to acknowledge that despite knowing everything there is to know about us, who we’d be, the choices we’d make (good or evil), and everything else, the gift of his only begotten son is still something that he gave us. That is a love that can not be matched by anything we encounter on this earth.

While we are in a season where extravagant gift giving has taken over, as believers, it is a privilege to be able to acknowledge that there is no greater gift than the love of God. In accepting it, we come to learn how best to love others, as well as ourselves. It motivates us to seek peaceable living and to avoid strife and contempt.

So during a season where gifts are often exchanged and families gather together, do so in remembrance of the sacrifice God made for us and do so in love.

Stay Sunny!
